So, now would be a bad time to back out?

I had two emails in my inbox this morning alerting me to the fact that I'm "officially" registered for a couple upcoming races. The half marathon next weekend, and the full marathon in May.

"Congratulations!" it told me.

Hm. Thanks?

Registration opened Monday for the fall marathon I intend to run, so I'm sure soon enough my e-mail will congratulate me for that, too.

I just don't know if "congratulations" is the right term to be used in this scenario. More like, "Good job, you dropped 'X' amount of dollars to run until utter exhaustion. Here, have a banana when you're finished."

I'll have them know I don't like bananas.
