Michael Wardian knows his stuff. Part 2 of 4.

Let me first say this: I AM A TECHNOLOGICAL GENIUS MASTER OF THE UNIVERSE. Do you see that down there? Down below all this drivel? IT'S AN EMBEDDED YOUTUBE VIDEO. I have defied all odds. I have learned something. My blog has reached maturity. I'm just kidding on that part. There is no maturity here. Come back.

With all of that said, I bring you, once again, Michael Wardian, ultramarathon man extraordinaire, here to answer my questions about running forever and ever and ever and...

He was kind enough to answer some questions for me thanks to the North Face Endurance Challenge Series. You can find my previous post, "Part 1 of 4," if you will, here. Please note the embedded video now there, too. IT'S INCREDIBLE. Oh, the internet, you slay me.

As the day gets closer (and closer and closer and...) that I will be running my very own ultramarathon, I chose to pick his brain about things that will likely cross my own mind. Today is no exception:

"At what point during Badwater did you think to yourself, 'Why am I doing this?' Does that thought ever cross your mind, or do you make the most of every step?"

(An aside: I feel like I will have that thought at approximately 5:03 a.m. on September 17th. Exactly 3 minutes after the starting gun sounds. Or also when I'm pooping my shorts.)
