I just received a "failure notice" in response to an email I sent earlier today. It's the usual notice, letting me know that the system failed to deliver such-and-such to so-and-so, but I can't help but notice it was rather personal. Almost apologetic. I do believe the elusive MAILER-DAEMON feels guilt:
"I'm afraid I wasn't able to deliver your message to the following addresses. This is a permanent error; I've given up. Sorry it didn't work out."
That, people, is exactly what MAILER-DAEMON stated in its email. It's given up? Sorry it didn't work out?
Why, I almost want to reach out and give MAILER-DAEMON a hug. It's OK, MAILER-DAEMON, please don't lose sleep over this failure. I promise you're not inadequate. As a matter of fact, you normally do quite well with my ingoing and outgoing electronic mail.
Peace be with you, Friend. I forgive you.
