"Ever since I was born, daddy has been the best father you could ever imagine. And I just wanted to say I love him so much."
Wow. Michael Jackson's 11-year-old daughter, Paris, is gorgeous. And if anyone watched her break down in tears at the memorial service without even the smallest lump in their throat, they might be made of stone.
I watched bits and pieces of the memorial service for Michael Jackson today during breaks at work. An entire crew of us poured into the break room around the television and sat in silence. And, swear to god, when Jermaine sang "Smile," one of his brother's favorite songs, I had to actively wipe multiple tears off my cheek. Those were the first real tears I've shed throughout this entire situation.
And Brooke Shields? Man. Usher's "Gone Too Soon"? Le sigh. Unreal.
I can't deal with people in mourning. Especially when they're mourning Michael Jackson. His casket was up front, near the stage. I was kind of just hoping it was a lie. But, sure enough, there was his casket. And his entire family. No fair. And I'm pretty sure little Paris broke everyone's hearts.
Marlon's eulogy was one of my favorites, and I included a piece of it below. I 100 percent concur. RIP Michael.
"Michael, when you left us, a part of me went with you," brother Marlon Jackson said. "And a part of you will live forever within me, but also a part of you will live forever within all of us."
Marlon Jackson said the world could not understand what his brother endured "being judged and ridiculed."
"How much pain can one man take," Marlon Jackson asked. "Maybe now, Michael, they will leave you alone."
